We are currently seeking a Full-Time Risk Manager

Apartment Management Consultants (AMC) is seeking an experienced Risk Manager to support and enhance our Master Insurance Program (MIP) and captive insurance initiatives while minimizing risk exposure for AMC and our multifamily property owners. This role will be responsible for managing insurance claims, implementing safety and loss control initiatives, analyzing and responding to incident reports, and proactively identifying and mitigating risks across AMC-managed properties.

Responsibilities Include

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Oversee AMC’s Master Insurance Program (MIP) and assist with the placement, renewal, and administration of insurance policies.
  • Serve as the primary liaison between AMC, property owners, brokers, carriers, and third-party administrators regarding claims and coverage.
  • Manage and oversee property and general liability claims, ensuring timely reporting, investigation, and resolution.
  • Monitor claims trends and provide recommendations to mitigate losses and improve claims outcomes.
  • Review, analyze, and respond to incident reports, identifying trends and opportunities for risk mitigation.
  • Develop and implement safety and loss control programs to reduce the frequency and severity of claims.
  • Conduct property risk assessments to identify hazards, vulnerabilities, and operational risks affecting AMC-managed properties.
  • Work with onsite teams to improve fire prevention, security, slip-and-fall reduction, and general safety measures.
  • Collaborate with legal, compliance, and operations teams to ensure adherence to risk management best practices.

Captive Insurance & Financial Risk Analysis

  • Support AMC’s captive insurance company, assisting with underwriting, policy development, and loss analysis.
  • Provide data-driven insights on insurance costs, loss ratios, and risk financing strategies to optimize program performance.
  • Evaluate alternative risk transfer strategies and assist in the captive’s regulatory compliance.

Training & Communication

  • Provide risk management training to onsite teams, regional managers, and property owners.
  • Develop educational materials and best practice guidelines for handling insurance claims, safety incidents, and legal exposures.
  • Maintain and update risk management policies, procedures, and reporting structures.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in risk management, insurance, claims handling, or loss control, preferably in multifamily property management or real estate.
  • Strong knowledge of property & general liability insurance, risk transfer, and loss prevention techniques.
  • Experience working with captive insurance programs is a plus.
  • Familiarity with claims handling, incident reporting, and OSHA safety standards.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to assess risk exposure and recommend mitigation strategies.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Risk Management, Business, Insurance, or a related field (CRM, ARM, or CPCU certification is a plus).

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, claims management systems, and risk analytics tools.
  • Effective leadership and development skills

Compensation: Full- Time $90,000 to $140,000 per year
