Job Description

U.S. Bank is looking for a strategic executive to lead 1,400 team members for our $2.0 Billion Global Corporate Trust business. This executive will manage all aspects of a complex business including setting strategic direction and vision, profit and loss business accountability, new business development, client service excellence, risk and control oversight, and technology solutions.

With its unique capabilities, deep and loyal client relationships, strong market share, and expanding geographic span, we are poised to drive innovation and growth and further our leadership role in the Corporate Trust space. The leader of this business is someone who is a commercially-oriented leader who can identify and execute on growth opportunities, is able to formulate and execute comprehensive strategies that align with broader organizational goals and can manage financial forecasting and resource allocation to maximize productivity.

This executive must be a dynamic expert who can drive the strategic direction, large scale transformation, financial management, and leadership for all aspects of the business which provides bond servicing and escrow services to municipalities and government related entities, corporations, asset managers and private equity firms and consumer finance companies. This leader must be adept at driving horizontal relationship across the enterprise in order to grow the business and drive client acquisition and depth across all applicable business segments.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

1. As a member of the WCIB Leadership team, this leader is responsible for developing and driving the U.S. Bank enterprise strategy in partnership with the broader leadership team within WCIB and other top layers of the organization.
2. Manage the overall P&L to drive profitable growth and innovation. Build a business that offers competitive and differentiated services.
3. Be a champion of driving our interconnected business model by working closely with key strategic business partners to drive new client acquisition and depth across our client set.
4. Define the vision for the Global Corporate Trust business and lead the strategy development, planning, and execution of business initiatives that drive toward the vision and business growth within a complex and highly competitive industry.
5. Provide inspirational leadership and direction to all employees as well as hire, develop, and retain a diverse and exceptional workforce. Build a talented, knowledgeable, and agile team who can drive growth and innovation.
6. Drive a client-centric team that consistently seeks to solve client problems.
7. Enhance operational efficiency and effectiveness by driving automation and process improvement to transform highly manual businesses, drive productivity, improve client experience, and reduce operational losses.
8. Ensure risk is managed in line with U.S. Bank’s risk appetite, policies, and regulatory expectations. Interact with the regulators and internal risk partners as needed on behalf of the business.

PIVOTAL EXPERIENCE, SKILLS, AND EXPERTISE

1. 15+ years of financial services and leadership experience in large, regulated, and complex companies.
2. Demonstrated understanding of global macro-economic concepts, complex securities, investment industry, global capital markets, and balance sheet.
3. Experience communicating at the C-suite level; able to deliver strategic presentations to executive leadership, the Board of Directors and industry partners.
4. Proven leadership and judgment to be able to hire, develop, and retain diverse and effective leaders who lead through change.
5. Strategic thinker with demonstrated ability to formulate and execute comprehensive strategies that align with broader organizational goals.
6. Problem solver with proven ability to identify challenges, unpack complex issues, and drive long term solutions.
7. Inspirational leader who has demonstrated ability to engage and inspire high performing teams, work across a large organization, and influence peers.
8. Commercially oriented leader who can identify and execute on growth opportunities.
9. Basic understanding of fixed income markets.
10. Executive presence, proven ability to champion change across a large organization, and demonstrated experience directly and indirectly influencing senior-level management and key stakeholders.
11. Pragmatic and innovative thinker and results-oriented leader driven by business opportunity and internal/external client expectations. Partners with others to promote the internal/external client experience. Open to feedback and shift in direction.
12. Knowledgeable of changing market conditions, operational and technological trends, evolving business practices, and regulatory expectations.
13. Uses rigorous logic and methods to analyze numerous options, solve difficult problems and develop effective solutions for the long-term platform development; handles complex concepts comfortably.
14. Strong business and financial acumen with a proven record of strategic planning, innovation, change management, and budget and resource management.
