Job Description

PRIMARY PURPOSE OF JOB:

We are currently seeking a high-energy professional who is customer-focused with problem-solving skills to join our dynamic organization as a Scheduler with primary focus on Marine & Domestic pipeline activity. Ideal candidate should be natural team player, eager to learn and grow, and have an eye for innovation and continuous improvement. Scheduler are responsible for optimizing flow by coordinating marine and terminal logistics for base oil movement. You will work closely with front office and third-party customers to create and approve nominations for movement, produce shipping schedules and manage inventory. In this role, you will have the lead responsibility of performing all scheduling functions in support of various domestic pipelines, injection station, and terminal trading hubs. The primary responsibility of coordinating with Operations (90% pipelines and 10% cargos) to ensure company and terminal customer’s needs are met. Candidate will be part of a currently existing scheduling team.

Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to:

Domestic Pipeline

  • Manage all crude oil nominations from 3rd parties related to domestic pipeline operated assets and coordinate with other operations team to ensure those nominated movements are executed.
  • Maintain scheduled volumes/inventory in our scheduling system and proactively managing required inventories
  • Coordinate with counterparties/terminals to ensure the generation and issuance of custody transfer tickets and statements are provided timely and accurately.
  • Coordinate with volumetric accounting and operations to ensure accuracy of shippers’ balances and perform inventory reconciliation process monthly.
  • Manage pipeline schedules daily to optimize operational and blending opportunities at Cushing asset locations as well as 3rd market locations.
  • Provide support, as needed, to ensure all crude oil movement nominations submitted on behalf of the crude team are submitted timely and accurately.
  • Fully actualize monthly pipeline movements prior to settlement date.
  • Review and validate all commercial deals to understand pricing and to schedule/coordinate logistics, ensuring all deals are executed and completed within the terms of the deal.
  • Complete all month-end tasks including balancing and reconciliation of inventories to meet accounting deadlines.
  • Review statements and invoices; reconcile monthly pipeline and terminal statements to nominations
  • Communicate with internal and external groups such as Contracts, Accounting, Finance, Risk, legal and Credit.Monitor PCIA tank/s storage/committed pipelines to ensure inventory levels are within contract terms and schedule inventory transfers as required, optimize transfer and seek opportunity net schedule properly to reduce transportation cost cross all deals.
  • Attendance of industry event, build network with other schedulers and dissemination of market intelligence to appropriate traders.
  • Conduct regular discussions within the crude ops or commercial team to facilitate internal discussions for deal optimization, exchange ideas with trading for maximization of profitability.
  • Quality and Analytics to assess arbitrage opportunities to add value to the marketing group.
  • Ability to take challenges, accept special project and duties from management.
  • Perform special projects such as non-operations tasks.
  • Be team player and promote team harmony. Provide coverage for other scheduling areas as needed

Vessel

  • Manage nominations for marine orders to/from both 3rd party and internal customers; monitor and execute base oil movement
  • Attention to detail and ability to capture crude movements accurately and timely in company internal systems.
  • As needed, work with customs broker on import\export requirements to ensure timely filing and any necessary updates for US Customs compliance.
  • Network and develop relationships with Pipeline and Terminal Operators and other Schedulers to stay apprised of industry changes, issues and trends.
  • Be flexible, able to take additional cargos movement on top of current desk assignment, always support management decisions and expand crude business. Stay late and work through the weekends when operations issues arise, resolve issue and identified root cause.
  • Self-motivated, team player with proven ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability and motivation to think commercially, critically and strategically to identify opportunities that contribute to PCIA deal value capture
  • Superior communication skills to effectively communicate with both internal and external customers. Comfortable with networking and building relationships with customers, service providers and internal stakeholders.
  • Ability to take challenges, accept special project and duties from management.

  • Individual must be highly motivated and possess strong analytical, problem solving and troubleshooting skills in order to recognize and solve problems quickly.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy. Good interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Team player and positive attitude to work well with others (internal & external)
  • 3-5 or more years of experience working in the crude industry
  • Basic knowledge of product and crude characteristics
  • Ability to meet deadlines and unexpected events, such as pipeline and/or refinery upsets that can require quick response and creative thinking to deal with the circumstances cause by such events.
