The University of Miami UHealth – Cancer Support Services at SoLé Mia has an exciting opportunity for an Acupuncturist. The Acupuncturist provides a holistic approach to the maintenance of health and the management of disease with a focus on improving patients’ and clients’ overall well-being. The Acupuncturist practices the accurate application of acupuncture to treat and manage a variety of emotional, mental, and physical disorders to maintain patients’ general good health. Core job functions include conducting detailed diagnosis and collecting data on a patient’s lifestyle, diet, health history, and symptoms before developing a tailored treatment plan; focusing on manipulating and maintaining the balance of ‘life energy’ or ‘life spirit’ in the body with the insertion of needles into various acupuncture points; administering treatment over varied periods of time depending on the severity of the condition and patient’s reaction; ensuring all safety, infection, quality, and environmental procedures and rules are in place and used; reviewing and discussing treatment options and preventative measures with patients; assessing and monitoring patients’ progress, maintaining detailed and complete records of health care plans and prognoses; dispensing herbal formulas and informing patients of dosages, frequencies, treatment duration, possible side effects, and drug interactions; adhering to local, state, and federal laws, regulations, and statutes; and adhering to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguarding University assets. The position requires a Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field, certification in a relevant specialty or field, and a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience. Skills needed include accuracy, attention to detail, ability to analyze, organize and prioritize work under pressure, discretion in handling confidential information, ability to work evenings, nights, and weekends as necessary, commitment to the University’s core values, and ability to work independently and/or collaboratively.
